Building Automation Shop

Overview

The Low Voltage and Energy Management Shop oversees fire and life safety systems, public address (PA) systems and access control systems like intrusion alarms and surveillance cameras. This shop is responsible for energy management & heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) controls. This involves overseeing the "brains" of the central boiler or chiller plants. The team can often troubleshoot a failing heater from a computer dashboard before the students even arrive at school. Energy management results in lower utility bills. By maintaining the fire, life and safety systems, the most critical responsibility of the team is ensuring that every occupant can be alerted and evacuated in an emergency. The Electronics shop manages the delicate wiring and sophisticated sensors that allow the buildings to "think," "see," and "react" to the needs of students and staff.
