Athletics
Overview
The Minneapolis Public Schools athletic department provides vital opportunities for students to develop physical skills and character through organized competition. As an essential part of the total educational experience, our programs help students build self-discipline, confidence, and the ability to work with others toward a common goal. We offer a wide range of fall, winter, and spring sports, including specialized programs like adapted athletics to ensure every student has a place to participate and grow. For the 2026 to 2027 budget year, our department remains committed to health and wellness while navigating district wide financial shifts. We prioritize the safety of our participants and the quality of our coaching and mentorship. By focusing on equitable access to resources, we aim to help students from all backgrounds achieve their full potential on the field and in the classroom. Our goal is to foster habits for a lifetime of physical activity and success in a diverse world.
